At Second Kicks, we are proud of our mission to collect and distribute used soccer uniforms and equipment to disadvantaged communities. We are constantly heartened by the impact our work has on these communities, and we're excited to share a recent collaboration with Parkdale Soccer.
In May of this year, we received a request from Mark Ucieklak of Parkdale Youth Soccer Club. Mark was seeking support for their soccer league, which runs for elementary school students and was starting a league for teens. The request was for different coloured jerseys for the teams and equipment for goalkeepers.
Our team, including Annie , Lee , and Frank , sprang into action, sorting through our available gear. We identified enough uniforms for multiple teams across different age ranges, from 7-9 years to 13-17 years. Beyond that, we had shorts, baseball caps, sports towels, and water bottles ready to go. There was also specific interest in our goalie gloves and cones, which we happily included.
In the first week of June, Parkdale Soccer started handing out the cleats and shin pads we provided. We were thrilled to receive some pictures of the equipment distribution, and we look forward to the uniforms being handed out next week.
We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to support communities like Parkdale. It's heartening to know that our efforts are helping kids play soccer who otherwise might not have had the opportunity. We want to thank Mark and the entire Parkdale Soccer organization for their work and for allowing us to be a part of it.
