On July 21, 2018 Second Kicks partnered with 33 Division of the Toronto Police Services as they hosted their 5th annual Bridging the Gap soccer clinic. Over 70 children ages 6-15 attended the clinic. Second Kicks supported the cause by providing soccer balls, jerseys and some shoes to make the kids feel like stars.
The clinics were ran by police officers that are all on the Toronto Police soccer team. They coached different clinics that are set up during the day to improve the children's teamwork, passing, and shooting skills . The police hopes to get kids involved, enthused, and engaged with the sport of soccer and hopefully not go into other paths in life.
Ultimately, the annual Bridging the Gap soccer clinic is about bringing kids and police officers together using soccer as a conduit so they can interact with police officers. Second Kicks is proud to play part and further this goal.
The event was founded by S/Sgt. Tony Charles from Toronto Police Communications.
