Second Kicks is proud to be a recipient of a collection drive by The Sole Stories, Carla Portillo, and her friends on the Waterloo United 2007/2006 OPDL Girls team.
We received a donation of 80 pairs of cleats/shoes of all sizes, 5 large and three small bags of soccer kits, jerseys, and socks. The donation also included training cones, ball bags, training bibs, shin guards, and gloves. Last but not least, we also received over 35 soccer balls sizes 3/4/5.
Carla has her own custom shoe art business, The Sole Stories, and wanted to incorporate giving back in the process. She implemented a program where a customer can get 10% off if they donate a pair of shoes..."why not try to give a pair to someone around the world who really needs it".
I’ve played football my entire life. Of course anyone who plays the sport, has a dream or life long goal of being successful in it. That has been on my mind since I was little. However, a HUGE goal of mine aside from that is, giving back. Helping those who need it. If I can do that through sport than it makes me even more happy. I am so incredibly proud of helping teams and future ballers have the equipment they need to have fun and enjoy themselves like I did when I was their age, playing the beautiful game.”
